Beneath the moon
Beside the sea
Her moistened lips they beckoned me
and bid me there to take the bait
but avoid the snare.
The precious fruit
the glimmering hook
the road to heaven,
the path I took.
Entangled in her heart and arms,
the bonds that bound me on the beach,
the grasp beyond my feeble reach,
the lies that bid me
to take her there
turned bittersweet
upon my tongue,
and in my heart.
